Kara MacDonald was a Free Flight student from the very beginning. From laying down the first studio floor to painting ceilings in the old waiting room to being seen on stage too many times to count during the year end recital: Kara was there! After five years of dedicated training with Julie and one year with Julie and Mrs. Skinner, Kara was the first Free Flight student to pass her Intermediate level exam. In the same year as passing her exam, Kara graduated from Delta Secondary School and was accepted into the York University Dance Program to earn a BFA Honours degree. Exciting as this was, it meant leaving Ladner, Free Flight, friends, and family, to move across the country to Toronto. At the end of her first year, Kara was accepted into the National Ballet School’s Teacher Training Program! This is a transfer program between York University and the National Ballet School that includes three years at York and two years at NBS. At the end of five years, Kara will have earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree as well as a certificate to teach RAD ballet. Kara is in her final year at National Ballet School of Canada and is excited to learn more about teaching and working with children, taking up her first teaching post this September!. She still enjoys returning to her roots in Ladner and tries to sneak into at least one dance class at Free Flight when she is at home for holidays and was a guest teacher in the Modern and Ballet program in Free Flight's Advance Summer Camp!
