Julie Brash -  R.A.D. R.T.S -  Principal

Julie has a passion for dance, especially Ballet, that just seems to get stronger and stronger every year. Added to that is her love of children and a passionate belief that they are the most important element of any studio. To build up a child is better than to rebuild an adult.

Julie has studied Ballet, Jazz and Contemporary dance, (Martha Graham style). She started her training in Jazz shortly after moving to South Africa from Zimbabwe, where she grew up. Later she became fascinated by Contemporary dance, performing in both amateur and professional companies, competing in the local Festivals and finally teaching, performing  and choreographing for several modern dance companies in London, England, where she lived for two years. Three years after landing in Canada, she decided that she wanted to study Ballet for her Teaching Certificate with the Royal Academy of Dance. After taking one year off to deal with illness in the family, she took her final exam in November, 2002 and now has her R.A.D. Teaching Certificate. Julie feels that everyday she learns something new. "To teach, you must always be learning"

This is Julie's eleventh year in business, her love of dance and the children continue to grow along with the studio. We have had great success in our tap exams, as well as in the graded and major ballet exams. The studio has won many places in competition with our groups and soloists, duos and trios. The Free Flight School of Dance has 3 fully equipped studios, as well as the children's dance company, The Flow. As we move into the next phase, Julie is more excited than ever by the direction that the studio and the dance company are moving in. Julie continues her journey to learn more and attended the National Ballet School of Canada's teacher's seminar last summer and again this year. Julie's love of the students and dance strengthens each year and she believes that "To dance is to fly" - hence our motto - You CAN fly!
