NEWSLETTER NOVEMBER 2008

 The Halloween costume week was so much fun, thanks to all who took the time to dress up and to everyone who made donations. We raised $275.19 and the studio will add more in to bring the amount we donate to the SPCA to $500. Winner of the competition will be announced next week once all the teachers have had a chance to vote. A prize will be awarded to each of the three winners, one in each category. A really fun time was had by all including the teachers. Photo’s will be posted next week on the website.

 Fantastic Opportunity – we have Amy Gardner coming to hold a convention this Sat, Nov 8^th. If you have not already signed up for it and still want to, please just email the studio and we will add you to the list. There are only a few spaces left. This is at less than half the price you would have to pay to be one of 50 or 60 in a huge room at a regular convention. We are hoping to host another one or two conventions this year, depending on the level of support. This one is for hip hop and lyrical, you can do either or both, with a special discount for those wanting both.  Please see the home page of the website and click on the link for full details. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE AN ADVANCED DANCER, you just need to have some experience in the dance discipline.

 Congratulations to Katy Weatherly on being accepted to the National Ballet School of Canada’s summer audition program. We are all so proud of you, but your hard work and passion are the reasons you made it this far. We wish you all the luck in the world.

 Please remember that all parents/students will have to be responsible for reading the letter online the first week of each month, or reading the newsletter posted on the bulletin boards of both change rooms of the studio. The newsletters always have details of the month’s events, parent viewing, closures etc in them. ***A pair of jeans was taken at the Thursday 4.30 pm class in Studio A/B. Please can you check if you have an extra pair that don’t belong to your child and return them to Julie. Thanks.

 Parent Viewing for Julie’s classes only will be the week of Nov 25^th to 29^th. We are spreading out the parent viewings to keep congestion to a min. Miss Karin and Miss Lindsay will have their viewing the week of Dec 1^st to 6^th  and Miss Leanne will be Dec 8^th to 12^th. 

Competition info will be loaded onto the website before Christmas break. We have a competition link, the same as last year, where all info regarding competition will be available to all as well as what our expectations are regarding attendance, behavior at competitions, goals etc. Non competing students are always welcome to come and support us at any of the competitions. We go to competition as a forum for developing our performance skills as well as celebrating our art. Invoices for fee will be sent this month or early next.

 Tax receipts will be issued in the month of December, for fees paid from Jan 08 to Dec 08. This tax receipt is only applicable from Jan 08 and for children under the age of 16, so if you child turned 16 during this tax year you will have to be responsible for applying the amounts accordingly, we do not have the facility to do so on our system. To receive your receipt you need to send in an envelope with your child’s name, your name and address and with a stamp on it.

 ALL classes WILL run Nov 11^th.
