Ballet
Ballet is the foundation of all dance. We offer
recreational classes and exam classes for children from 4 1/2 years and up,
including adult ballet. We have introduced a performing company including ballet
for students with a lot of drive, passion and commitment. We also offer the
opportunity to compete in local competitions.
Attire:
Pre-Primary and Primary: powder blue short sleeved leotard, matching semi-sheer
elastic waist skirt, pink tights, pink leather ballet slippers, hair in a bun.
Grades 1-5: navy blue leotard, pink tights, pink leather ballet slippers, black
character skirt, black character shoes, hair in a bun.
Intermediate Foundation and above may wear any colour leotard, pink slippers,
pink tights (broken down pointe shoes and black leotard for exams)
Lyrical
A form of dance that combines jazz and ballet movements into a modern
form that is more expressive than jazz and introduces floor work not used in
ballet, to young modern dancers.
Attire:
Leotard, jazz pants, and beige jazz booties, some may need toe undies.
Contemporary
A much more distinct style and technique than Lyrical with use of the
contraction a must. This is a very expressive, emotional form of dance using
movement to explore the depth of the human soul.
Attire:
Leotard, jazz pants, and beige jazz booties.
Jazz
A dynamic and high energy form of dance. We offer programs for children
age 5 and up and include adult classes. We have a Jazz division in the
performing company for which ballet is a requirement. We also offer competitive
classes for group and individual competition - again ballet is a requirement.
Attire:
Fitted dance clothing, beige jazz booties, hair tied back.
Tap
A fun way of developing coordination, rhythm and musicality. From ages
5 to adults. There is also a division of Tap in the performing company. C.D.T.A.
exams offered.
Attire:
Unitard, black leather oxfords for children, teens to adults, jazz pants, dance
top. Shoes - see teacher.
Hip Hop
This is a funky form of street jazz. It is very stylized and includes
body isolations therefore hip hop starts at age 7. We also have competitive hip
hop.
Attire:
Loose clothing and clean runners that are used only in the Studio.
Musical Theatre
This includes singing, acting and dancing. Voice coaching is an
integral part of this fun and much-loved program.
Attire:
Dance clothing and beige jazz shoes.
Preschool:
Kinderdance
This is a child development program which teaches musicality
and a love of dance for children ages 3-4. It encourages creativity,
independence and fundamental coordination skills that are so important
to any future physical activity. Children exposed to early development
of this nature can have the social and physical skills to help them
become active, healthy adults. It is run in three separate sessions.
Attire:
Ballet clothing, any colour, ballet shoes.
Pilates
Helps to elongate and stretch muscles, while contracting and
strengthening them. This helps to not only attain longer, leaner muscles
and flexibility, but also improve overall mental and physical health. It
works the core muscles to help improve posture and help correct muscular
imbalances.
Move'n to the
Beat
It is a morning workout class with a
touch of Jazz dancing combining low-impact workouts with body
conditioning and stretching. Taught by Camille Turner this fun class is
great for moms who want to bring their toddlers with them. Drop ins are
welcome at just $5.00 per a class.
Summer Camp
Junior Camps run from 9am-3pm and include
Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Musical Theatre and Arts'n Crafts. Children are
required to bring a packed lunch, a towel for the picnics in the park, a
water bottle to bring to the studio and a good sense of fun!

SUMMER CAMP 2008 TENTATIVE DATES: July 14th- 28th
and August 18th- 22nd
Dancers
must have a minimum of 5 years previous dance experience and be able to
perform double pirouettes, chaine and pose turns, jetes, reverse
jumps, & turning jumps.
Classes include: Ballet,
Jazz (Stylized/Street Jazz), Lyrical, Progressions, Hip Hop, Body
Conditioning/Yoga, Tap, Modern/Contemporay, Musical Theatre

Shoe Swap
A sale of second-hand shoes is held the after the Studio opens in
September. Bring your shoes, character skirts and we will try to sell
them for you and you may even pick up a used pair yourself. Sorry no
used leotards or tights or other dance clothing will be accepted.
