Flamenco Fusion
Spanish Dancing originated with the Gypsies from the Sudra Tribe from Northern India.
Flamenco rose from this form of dance. Along the way many cultural influences were collected, hence to this day Flamenco is an amalgamation of many facets which are fused according to individual styles and tastes. I hope to give you a taste of my way of expressing the Flamenco Fusion dance.
Flamenco occurs in many different settings but in each setting you will find the following:
The Cantaores (singers) who are the heart and soul of the performance, Flamenco musicians and El baile flamenco (dancers) accompanied by Palmas (hand clapping). Castanets are reserved for the more regional Spanish dance.
This program is an introduction to Spanish dance with a twist of ballet technique and many modern influences.
